traveling...

I forgot a USB cord...I wanted to replace my dead battery in my laptop (used on plane) with an extra battery but could not get the dead one out of my laptop...so (of course) used a knife and a spoon in my hotel room. Of course I did get the battery out but now my computer insides are dented up pretty badly from my aggressive work with the knife and spoon. Now we are headed off to see all of Egypt ... read more

arrival - health department

One unusual thing is that when we arrived our flight was met by the health department all wearing masks. The entire flight was escorted to stand in front of some special device and screened. I have no idea what we were screened for - maybe swine flu? The device was pointed at our faces - camera line - and projected a multi color picture on a computer screen. Anyone know what this is? billion times worse !

The traffic in Cairo is a billion times worse than the traffic even in LA. You would think the pure hell of driving with a foot on the brake (coasting is not even possible) would deter people. I am told that the traffic will be even more nightmarish tomorrow when President Obama arrives since much of Cairo will be shut down for security reasons. ... read more

Debi the Make Up Artist On a Camel

Yes, Debi is our Make Up Artist -- but the truth is that she does so much more on our trips than make up.  She plays a giant part in making sure the trip goes well -- she even chased down a USB cord tonight for me so that I could post pictures.  She is constantly working on transportation, food, faxes, research, etc. ...but from time to time we have a few hours off and we also enjoy teasing ... read more

Under the headline "never dull," as we entered the security check point here at the University where President Obama will speak, we ran into a woman from Code Pink with a microphone. You would recognize her --- she has been on TV for protesting hearings on Capitol Hill and has appeared on Fox News Channel. Of course, lucky me!!!
