why we should worry...

Why should we worry? I just read in NYT that Pakistan (yes, the country with nuclear weapons and Islamic extremists) has never had an elected civil government survive a full term. Right now there is great unrest...and there is a huge element of the country (including in their government) that does NOT like the United States.  I was stunned when I was there 3 weeks ago to see the level of ... read more

Did we/USA hitch our horse to the wrong cart?

There is a democratic election scheduled for November 29 in Honduras. The USA insists on backing ousted President Zelaya... but did the USA make a big blunder in backing him? The people in Honduras who ousted him June 28 did so because they claim he was trying to be "President for life" - something that violates their constitution. Now President Zelaya says he won't recognize the November ... read more

If you have never been to Berlin, then you might enjoy this video. this is very bad ...

Washington Post reports today that most of the outrage over the market bomb in Peshawar, Pakistan two weeks ago that murdered more than 100 is directed not at the Islamic extremist groups the Pakistan government said did this...but rather at countries many Pakistanis say are their true enemies: Israel, India and United States. The paper reports that religious groups and political groups in ... read more

U.S. BUNGLED THIS ONE

I have been closely following the political crisis in Honduras - even to the extent of going to Honduras and interviewing the Interim Leader Micheletti and talking to other people who live there. I so wanted to think (believe) that the US handled and was handling this one well and right.  From the beginning I have had my doubts ...but tried really hard to have faith in our government's ... read more
