We are now back home - or will be in thirty minutes. It is always great to be home. These short trips to far away locations are exhausting but fascinating. I am sorry I stopped posting videos in the green oval but I had phone issues that had to do with my data program. Because there is a war going on here in Pakistan, the country feels like it is on total lockdown. Every few feet there is a check point. A car bomb blew up in front of a hotel (Mariott) so you can't get very close to any hotel now with a car. As close as our car did get, it was checked for a bomb....hood lifted etc. ... read more
Just to give you a taste of the security and fear in Islamabad, let me tell you what it is like getting into our hotel.
You pull your car up to the first checkpoint at the hotel where there are 6 to 10 armed men. The men circle the car, look under it, lift hood and look inside....open the back and look inside ...and question us, the occupants. One we get the pass through, a metal gate is ... read more
