Yes....the health care system is all screwed up. We need to get it right and we need to be efficient.
I had my annual physical and got one bill (of many) which of course I don't understand (who does understand medical bills?) The one bill that caught my attention was for $2082.56. I was a bit curious about the charge (although I am busy and usually just assume everyone has it right) and investigated. It turned out it was a "computer error" and that the bill had been submitted to insurance and that I owed not $2082.56 but rather $74.04.
So the message? check your bills...and second, we really need to clean up the system. I don't like the idea of turning the system upside down but fixing? yes!
It definitely needs to be fixed!! My son broke his arm and needed surgery. The hospital bill charges sent to my insurance company was just over $35,000.00!! NO JOKE! He did not spend the night and was an outpatient.
I have documented hypothyroidism along with other medical conditions and weigh more than 250 pounds. I eat one meal every day..less than 600 calories a day and the doctor is constantly riding me to eat more. I walk more than two miles a day. I take care of myself in spite of several serious and rare chronic medical conditions which are causing me to both lose my vision and be in constant pain. Should I pay more? How about obesity that pre-exists? If you can't discriminate illness....???
change subject . on this muslim shooting up the army base and. if this was not terrorist act , why dont all the other muslim come out an say that this was wrong and condem him for doing this horrable act what do you think
That is ridiculous, Greta. I received an email today saying that we had better watch our bank cards for "cash back" being added. They said it was the latest scam. They keep the money or give it to a friend who is behind you.
If Obama cared about people's health he would: First, identify where the money is being wasted in Medicaid and put a breaks on the theft. Second, allocated money to pay for 2 new programs.Cut,Cut Cut! One for transition workers (lay off's, low paying workers..)with restrictions until they are reemployed and are on their new company payroll, and have government run clinics for those who can't afford healthcare. Each State should manage the money and not the Federal Gov.
I say do away with insurance and the middlemen altogether. If someone hands you a bill for that much money, you should question it. But anymore, the bills go straight to the payors not the clients, and all you receive is a statement about what the payors gave the providers. To me, all office visits should be paid out of pocket and all hospital claims should be paid off installments with no interest. And no bankruptcy write offs, either. Nurses and doctors work darn hard--they should be paid fairly
Greta, even if you only paid $74.04, that is still pretty expensive for your share of expenses........I'm sure you have pretty good insurance. Seems like you would pay a modest co-pay and everything else would be covered. Tsk, Tsk.
Pelosicare is for the peons and knaves…
Democratic leaders turned away 11 votes that would have required Congress to enroll in Pelosicare.
CNS news reported:
More than 200 amendments were rejected by the House Rules Committee ahead of Saturday’s vote on the Democrats’ health care bill, including 11 that would have required members of Congress and other government officials to be enrolled in the same federal insurance plan proposed for the American people.
Critics of the health care bill said they offered the 11 amendments – including some that would require the president, vice president, and Supreme Court justices to give up their Federal Employees Health Benefit Program (FEHBP) to enroll in the ‘public option’ or Medicaid – to showcase the problems with the massive legislation.
“If Congress forces our constituents into a public option plan over time, then members of Congress should be expected to do the same,” Rep. Howard McKeon (R-Calif.) told CNSNews.com.
The House Rules Committee attempt was the second time McKeon had tried to amend the Democrats’ health plan to include legislators in the public option.
“Democrats voted down a similar amendment, 21-18, in the Ways and Means Committee during the July markup of HR 3200,” McKeon said. “It became apparent then that Democrats are afraid of being put on a government-run health care program, but that fear does not extend to the welfare of their own constituents.”
Ole Bill critical of Tea Baggers. Quess What - the current Governor of IL Quinn a Dem has a history of tea bagging.
He wanted people to send tea bags to Com ED because of rates and years ago he wanted people to send tea bags to the IL Congress to stop them for voting themselves a raise.
Werndog---As usual you look at one little piece of something instead of the whole picture. I won't bother pointing out those from the comment you made because I realize that your ideology won't allow you see/understand anything else. Unfortunately, All too often we have to experience the consequences ourselves to finally 'get it'.
Regardless of what side any of us take on this issue, according to the U.S. Constitution - Article I, Section 8 (which defines the powers of Congress)
Clauses 1, 17 and 18 the Congress does not have the power to pass this type of legislation.
Clause 18:
To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.
Imagine if you hired someone to work on your home. The contractor was given the freedom to do whatever he wanted. He could hire subcontractors as he saw fit. All the contractors and subcontractos send separate bills to your homeowners insurance. You never discuss the cost of services with the contractor. Some administrator, sitting in an office in another city, decides whether to pay the bill or not. Our system that does not demand accountability. There will be abuses.
My ins once paid a hospital bill for someone who had the same name as my daughter. They had both been treated at the same orthopedic clinc but my daughter was never hospitalised, the other girl was. I made the clinic and the ins. company aware of this. Why didn't they use SS numbers instead of a name to identify a patient?
Greta, this kind of thing happens frequently from all the companies that we receive medical bills from. I mentioned a while back that we all should request itemized bills and check them carefully. It will become a lot worse IMO if the government has their hand in it. Despite what they tell you, the government 'red tape' is really bad. Try getting a gov't job (including somebody already in the gov't)---it often takes months to go through all the hoops.
The liberals are trying to overturn everything! They want to end a war that we had no business getting into, they want to regulate the banking industry that was just deregulated causing this economic plunge, equal pay for women (we all know they can't do a mans job),and now HEALTH CARE FOR ALL AMERICANS! The nerve of them! If health care was so important don't you think the conservatives would have done something about it.If 40-50 people die each day due to lack of ins.Think what we saved! Libs!

JUST IMAGINE THE MEDICAL LAWSUITS THAT WILL OCCUR WITH PUBLIC HEALTHCARE!.
Greta---I 100% plus another 100% agree with you!! YES, FIX FAILINGS WITHIN OUR CURRENT SYSTEM.
We already have the foundation and familiarity with our system, the best in the world. Easy, quick and cost effective to simply fix our existing system. You bet.
Greta please bring up about the 2billion dollar loan Obama passed so South America can drill for oil----they say Sorros will profit big from this deal--why does he not drill here in America?????????

The "Healthcare Reform" bill barely passed by the House of Representatives is an "ACT OF TERRORISM."
