Moderate – A politician with no discernable or consistent political philosophy, although they tend to break Left when not drifting with the wind. Most often used to refer to Republicans. (See Senators Snowe, Collins, Graham, et al.)
Lower costs – When applied to federal government expenditures, it means higher costs.

I'm never sure what the Veterans' Day salutation ought to be. "Happy" seems eerily out of place. But, only because the three military holidays have been meshed and distorted and no longer have focus. Armistice Day was to honor sacrifice and service of those fallen and those surviving in WWI. Since WWI doesn't have the historical centrality in the US that it does in England and Europe, it is natural that it was extended in the US to include sacrifice and survival in all our many wars. /s/ Brick
