Afgan, Irag, all these countries are so pre historic they will never change. The treatment of women will always be as it is. We should never send Americans to these kinds of countries to die for some woman who doesn't have sense enough to even take the rags off her head! GenX and the Berlin Wall-----------I see some bloggers detracting from this moment in history and it’s effect. I can only speak from my perspective. As a GenX child during the Bicentennial I was immersed for literally years in all things Early American history. Liberty and Freedom, who, what, where, when, why and how were a daily thing. We learned that Freedom and Liberty don’t come or start with institutional governments, committees, organizations, rallies or words, but with common individuals and actions, one here, one there, each a living example of the meaning of the words. How wonderful, but in my child’s mind that was 200 years ago, a different time, they all seemed so old and wise, and the modern world was so much more complicated and sophisticated. Two huge nations locked in cold war with arsenals of mass destruction. How could something so wonderful ever happen again? Then, slowly during the eighties, as we came of age, we watched as individual after individual started to put the words Freedom and Liberty into action, being an example to the next. Again, with wise statesmen giving words of affirmation to encourage and push away fear, until another visual symbol of the shot heard around the world showed that it isn’t just a story from long ago. There they were, people literally tearing down a wall of oppression. proving Liberty and Freedom are living and breathing in every human being and that individuals, not governments can change the world.
I don't know about Karzai. What I do know is this is a crucial time for Germany amid its rie to global dominance as the Lisbon Treaty is about to be ratified. One of the cleverer aspects of German foreign policy invoives its intent on influencing--if not controlling--political action within countless other nations, and has established close links to influential think tanks in Washington and the US congress in recent years. This can't be good for Americans.

I voted more against their opponents than for them. Too bad we have a congress and president that don't seem to want to build up the working class or small businesses. It is good that Germany has been reunited oh so many years ago. They have been peaceful and have not repeated their mistakes that caused their divided country. They really did pay dearly for their mistakes. You must of had a great time in Germany Greta. I would bet a much better and safer visit than in Pakistan. It had to be great seeing these 3 men shaking each other hands.
