Good Lord... I wonder what this country (and the world) would look like if thieves had not gotten away with pirating the national elections in 2000. Perhaps we would not find ourselves today in what amounts to a domestic economic depression. Not to mention how many of our fellow human beings would still be alive today (Iraq, etc.).
Recall, that when Obama started his term in January, the prior quarter GDP rate was negative 6.3%.
It was positive 3.5% in Q3 of 2009.
That is a 9.8% upward swing in GDP growth rate!
And people complain?
Sure, more has to happen on the jobs front, but one shouldn't ignore the dramatic turn around.
Things are looking up because of the housing tax credit that is stimulating the economy; the clunker program in cars -- but, basically, it's housing where it started and where the recovery is really coming from.
How come none of the t.r.o.l.l.s never banty about Phil Gramms' name? Why aren't they calling for his head? He had the biggest hand in this collapse. We can thank him for all this mess Gramm-Leach-Biiley Act 1999......Look it up!
I find the irony to be delicious; had it not been for the Republicans helping the banks and Wall Street - and those who dabbled in the latter with their billions - at the expense of America's middle class and working poor for these last 30 years, then America wouldn't have gone to hello in a handbasketo, and Obama might not ever have been elected.
Which brings me to why I am grateful to you righties
However disappointed anybody feels about Democrats not being able or capable to correct 30+ years of neocon well-poisoning in 10 months, the answer will never be — MUST never be — to turn out an incumbent and allow a neo to take that seat.
Giving control back to the very ideologues that created the problem in the first place just because they aren't incumbents is more than just flawed thinking, it is self-destructive.
The only way to get things back on track is to put more money in the pocket of the average American. Increased taxes on the rich and reduced taxes for everyone else is certainly a good start.
President Obama stopped the bush depression. The economy is growing. Home prices, starts and sales have all increased 5 months in a row. Now even the manufacturing sector is growing.
It takes time to cure 8 years of bush incompetence and failure and we have the right man in the white house to do just that!
Timing is Everything. I see Santorum is Also "pointing his finger at bush for Afghanistan".
The elections are coming up..so NOW they Agree bush hurt America.
