Security in a country hosting a war

Just to give you a taste of the security and fear in Islamabad, let me tell you what it is like getting into our hotel.

You pull your car up to the first checkpoint at the hotel where there are 6 to 10 armed men.  The men circle the car, look under it, lift hood and look inside....open the back and look inside ...and question us, the occupants.  One we get the pass through, a metal gate is lifted for the car to pass....then we go to the second check point....we get eyed by security and then we get out of the car.  We go through the first metal detector (like at airports)...then walk towards the hotel where we have to go through a second metal detector (like the airports.)

Of course there is reason for the hotels to be worried here in Islamabad -- 13 months ago the Marriott Hotel in this city was bombed and more than 50 killed.

They really have to have all this security as they are at war with people who kill just to kill. They don't care and they don't care if they are killed. This is a nasty enemy and I thank God that we do not have to have all that security. It would really slow us down and cause great fear. I feel bad for the good people in Isamabad.
