(This is encouraging news .....while for those out of work, the economy is very bad news....at least this indicator below shows a different direction than down!)
WASHINGTON -- The number of new claims for jobless benefits falls to the lowest level since early January, as employers cut fewer workers.
The Labor Department says first-time claims for unemployment insurance dropped last week to a seasonally adjusted 521,000, from the previous week's upwardly revised total of 554,000.
That's better than the 540,000 that Wall Street economists expected, according to a survey by Thomson Reuters.
The drop is the fourth in five weeks. The four-week average, which smooths fluctuations, fell to 539,750, the lowest since Jan. 17.
The number of people continuing to claim benefits declined by 72,000 to 6.04 million. Analysts expected continuing claims to rise slightly.
Good grief Sen Lindsey Graham do not join an ignorant fool like Kerry. Climate change????? Looks like the 1 trillion deal to ease unemployment has backfired. Govt jobs don't seal the deal. The small business employers do. The reality is 80 percent of all jobs are in the private sector. Help them and unemplyment lowers and the economy gets on track. Put mandated healh care and taxes to pay for it and it is back to the late 70s. 15 and 15. Yes Big O lobbiest it will happen. All I want is a discussion on health care- the sun will implode panic tactics. the earth will end. facts please
I see a storm headed for Washington and it's going to hit those that are rejecting God's laws, and want rights to break Gods's laws right along with our President who is aiding other to break God's laws, and if he thinks he stand fast, he better take heed, less he falls.

This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution. To bring on this reformation requires that the organizer work inside the system, among not only the middle class but the 40 per cent of American families - more than seventy million people - whose income range from $5,000 to $10,000 a year (in 1971).
Obama's Progenitor in Neo-Marxism, Saul Alinsky, on "Change"
There's another reason for working inside the system. Dostoevsky said that taking a new step is what people fear most. Any revolutionary CHANGE must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward CHANGE among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and chance the future.

Baucus Bill Hits Seniors with Medicare Cuts [Robert Moffitt]
Looking back at the August congressional town-hall meetings, we witnessed a strange and wonderful phenomenon. Large groups of Americans from all walks of life and all different age groups started to make clear their distaste for the elitist arrogance, irresponsible spending, the mounting debt, and the cavalier disregard for common sense that has become a hallmark of official Washington.
Sure, unemployment claims have dropped; those that were on it can no longer get them as "their time has run out", the rest have just given up, are out panhandling or selling drugs.
Seriously, so what this is saying is that we're still bleeding at the jugular, but just not as bad as last month? Dems say they want to ROB $400 Billion from MEDICARE, Seniors have paid into ALL THEIR LIVES. NOW DEMS PLAN WILL STEAL FROM Medicare? I doubt it, the political price at the Ballot box will be FAR too great, they will INCREASE spending so Medicare Survives, so OBUMMER-care will Really Cost all American Taxpayers, and anyone paying for a costly Health care plan, BEND OVER!
Greta! Them main reason why claims dropped its because its not easy to get unemployment benefits. Have you tried? I did and its easy for me not to have it then going though red tape and try constantly prove and bring more documents to show that i lost job and cant find one. Screw obama and his policies and for him to get Nobel Prize is biggest insoult for all as americans!
I do not believe them. I wonder if they are considering that a lot of people have run out of unemployment benefits & therefore it shows up as less being on the unemployment rolls.Anyway, that is my 2 cents worth.
I don't TRUST the Government and its ECONOMISTS! The Republicans are STILL asleep at the wheel and the Democrats are uniting to SHOVE GOVERNMENT down our throats! No worries- we'll be losing more jobs soon enough- it's called GOVERNMENT HEALTH CARE AKA HOPE & CHANGE.
Well, it means crap to me. Call me crazy, but I don't see this as bad news, just because we're not losing jobs at a record speed- we're still losing them, taxes are going up, no one can find a job (those who have ALREADY filed for unemployment) and now the Gov't is trying to shove this crap down our throats while NEVADA gets a FREE pass (literally) and my state is still broke and being run by a bunch of idiots (YES, I live in California).
Not so much a discussion but a comment, i first want to tell you that i believe you are beyond a doubt the most honest person in the media. I always feel like i am getting the straight scope from you .I must admit that when i heard you were a sciencetolgist,it made me pause. But i now must ask your forgivness? I am a christian but i very much admire you, so please except my apology. A big fan!
What WE need is reinventing our manufacturing jobs sothe small auto parts stores, and the local Pub outside the parking lot of the factories, and the donut emporiums that sell coffee have customers to survive. We better do something about the 17% of our GDP that goes to HEALTH-CARE,that in all probability isn't being paid by the little businessmen aren't providing to their part-time employees. But what who cares about them?Without our ability to compete in the manufacturing area how do we survive
