    UNFUNDED MANDATE?

There are so many terms that get thrown around that any one of us might not understand and which we hear often.....so I figured I would pull out a term that is very important and give you a link to find the definition.  What is the term?

    UNFUNDED MANDATE.

What does unfunded mandate mean? (and be honest, did you already know this one? and do you think unfunded mandates are a good idea? bad idea?)

it is an accounting trick used by one level of government to hand costs down to the next level of governmnet. it allows them to claim bill is paid when it is nor.

Unfunded mandates are the way governments tell us homeowners that we really don't own a damn thing! Watch your property taxes and you'll know you are only really paying high rent to the gov and our rent is about to go thru their roof because of Dems idiocy .

it is a bad idea - but it is a PR tool politicnas use often to give "an appearance" of supporting the measure when in truth they care less about that legislation. It is a "Political correctness" mechanism... like a "shell" legislation -- full of hot air.

The 12 trillion dollar debt is not the problem. The unfunded mandates are the problem. Right now we owe somewhere between 54 trillion and 100 trillion in unfunded mandates (no one seems to really know). Now, this health care bill will add even more, many times more debt, to the unfunded mandates. If I were into conspiracy theories, I would think that the administration and congress are deliberately trying to destroy us. There's no tort reform, nothing to cut costs...it's nuts!
