What do you think about awards in entertainment and news? Do you think the awards recognized exceptional work? or do you think it can be a bit more like a high school popularity contest since the vote is limited to a very small group (those in the industry)?
If you were in the business, would you prefer to be appreciated by your peers with awards or viewers / audience with ratings?
As an aside, ratings can be a good gauge of good work since ratings really means viewers watching and people don't watch if they don't like it, right?
(And what brought up this topic? I just saw an article listing the nominees for an award in the entertainment industry...and I was trying to think if anyone I like in entertainment had been left out of the list or not of nominees.)
