I just read that some of President Obama's supporters are deeply disappointed in him for changed positions - he campaigned saying one thing and is doing another (or failing to do what was promised.) Republicans have felt the same way with their leaders (eg the government growth in the last 8 years.) What happens is that campaigning is a lot different from governing...and the question really is whether the candidate was naïve or no truthful ..or whether circumstances changed requiring a different response to an event. What do you think? (Note that I do wonder if more experienced candidates promise less since they know the limits of the office??)
