Who paid for this trip to New York in Air Force One? [update 9:15pm -- note that the President flew in a Gulf Stream and not the 747] and the extra secret service?
If this is business, then of course the taxpayers should pay. If all pleasure and personal? ???? in a time or great recession with thousands losing jobs??? who should pay?
By the way, we do have fine restaurants and theatre in DC so the taxpayers don't need to pay for Air Force One and extra security associated with travel to NYC if this is purely personal.
Most of all, we need to get the facts about this trip.

Even before the Obamas left Washington, the there-and-back trip drew criticism from Republicans who questioned the president's decision to travel to New York for a night of entertainment during a recession and while automakers struggle to survive.
