A Sportswriter who takes his own thoughts way too seriously ..

I find this Wisconsin Journal writer Baggot (below) amusing. He has probably been boring readers for years (yes, boring!) ...most certainly from the sidelines (he is not good enough to play football himself so he writes about it for a living...)...and yet he pontificates that Brett Favre, who has dazzled Green Bay Packer fans for about 14 years including two trips to the Super Bowl should "reconcile" with the Packer fans! What does that mean? Reconcile with the Packer fans? Didn't Brett Favre do enough for the Green Bay fans? Didn't he thrill them every Sunday for about 14 years? I am a Packer shareholder and I appreciate what Brett did for the Packer franchise. Favre need not do any reconciling with me...I thank him for the great games I got to watch when he wore the Packer jersey.

The Packer management didn't want Brett this season so he did the unthinkable crime according to this pontificating sportswriter - Brett asked to be traded. Is that a crime? Maybe with Andy "I can't play football myself so I criticize those who do and take myself real seriously" Baggot! And there is more....get this, according to Baggot, Favre needs to acknowledge his mistake? Is he kidding? is it a mistake that Brett wanted to have fun and play again or that he did not seek the almighty ok from a silly sportswriter?

Baggot also adds that Favre must "make amends so that we can all move on." Huh? Is he serious? Favre must make amends? This sound so silly.

Andy baby, this is football... a sport...a game... not confession! What's up with you? Can't a pro player do what he wants without a sportswriter who can't himself play's permission? huh? Don't be silly Andy!

This guy Baggot seems like a weirdo to me - a sportswriter who takes his own thoughts way too seriously.

Baggot: Retirement, reconciliation should be Favre's next moves

First impressions, second thoughts and the third degree:

OK, now Brett Favre should retire and begin taking those first awkward steps on the road to reconciling with Packers fans.

Whether he heeds the pain in his right shoulder, his excruciating statistics down the stretch with the New York Jets (one touchdown pass, six interceptions, 58.2 passer rating, 1-3 record), or the fact he's now succeeded in disappointing fans in both the smallest and largest NFL markets in a span of six months, Favre should pull the plug on his Hall of Fame career.

When that decision is finally made, Favre has to make the first move to reach out to Green Bay fans and it better not involve Brad Childress, Matt Millen or Greta Van Susteren. Favre needs to acknowledge his mistakes. He needs to do so sincerely. He needs to make amends so we can all move on.

On a scale of 1 to 10, Favre is probably a .5 on the regret meter for Packers general manager Ted Thompson because of the negative national energy it caused. However, trading Corey Williams might be a 9.5, not being more aggressive in trading for Jason Taylor a 7.5 and cutting Jon Ryan a 7.
